Pre and Post Operative Care at Carson Physical Therapy

Physical therapy before and after surgery can reduce your recovery time, improve your outcomes, and make your healthcare dollars count.

What is ‘prehabilitation’?

The better your strength and range of motion are before orthopedic surgery (e.g., joint replacement surgery), the better off you’ll be after. That’s the philosophy behind prehabilitation, or physical therapy performed before surgery.

The goal of prehab? Optimize your strength, mobility and overall functional capacity prior to an orthopedic procedure through a comprehensive, therapeutic exercise program. Prehab prepares your body not only for the stress of actual surgery, but also for the post-op physical therapy program that follows.

Post-operative rehabilitation

After you’ve undergone surgery, post-op therapy can begin as soon as you have permission from your physician. The goals of post-op PT focus on reducing the adverse effects of surgery, like swelling, pain, and stiffness. We’ll develop a personalized exercise and therapy plan that has your work & recreation goals in mind. Getting moving as soon as possible after surgery not only helps you heal, but can help you regain confidence and help you feel healthy again—physically and mentally.

Carson PT is fantastic. Adam and his crew of therapists are topnotch. They maintain a high quality of professionalism and always keeps a family atmosphere. I highly recommend Carson PT! Thanks to Adam and Mal and the rest for taking such good care of me.
